Support Needed for Legacy Windows Mobile Devices on Windows 11

I'm trying to support some legacy data collectors that my company insists on keeping, but I've recently upgraded everyone to Windows 11. It seems like Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is now obsolete, which was used for connecting Windows Mobile Active Sync devices. Does anyone have any insights or solutions? Also, is there a higher version of .NET I could use that would still be backwards compatible with the current setup? Thanks!

I dealt with a similar issue with some really old inventory scanning software that relied on WMDC. I managed to get it working on a later Windows 10 version, but it took a lot of steps, and I eventually told my team I couldn't keep fixing these outdated systems. They finally decided to upgrade to a modern tablet and the latest inventory software. Sometimes, you just have to push for a better solution!

Check out the instructions linked here. If they don’t help, it might be bad news for making it work on Windows 11.

Also, since WMDC requires .NET 2, you should install .NET 3.5 on Windows 11, as it includes the .NET 2.x binaries.

But be aware, migrating to a higher .NET version may lead to backward compatibility issues!

I get where you're coming from! I'm curious if there’s truly no way to implement newer .NET packages to patch those security issues left in .NET 2 and 3.5. That'd be a huge help if it works!
