I've been really interested in trying out Linux lately, and I'm considering dual booting it alongside my current OS. Ubuntu and Linux Mint caught my eye after a quick look at various distributions. I'd love to hear any recommendations or insights you might have on Linux in general or these specific distros!

A great way to start is by trying Linux from an external USB SSD. This allows you to run it as a side setup alongside Windows. I've been using Linux off an external hard drive for years, and it works like a charm. Just search for some videos on YouTube to see how to set it up!
Many people recommend Linux Mint for those just starting out. It has solid online support as well! I suggest using Ventoy to create a bootable flash drive, downloading the Mint 22.1 Cinnamon edition .iso file, and then testing it in live session mode before you commit to the installation.
I personally prefer the MATE edition, but you're right—they're both great options for newcomers!
