Thinking About Dual-Booting Linux—Need Some Advice!

Hey everyone, I've recently gotten into Linux and installed Linux Mint on an old laptop. Now, I'm considering trying it out on my main PC, but I play a few games that aren't compatible with Linux. I'm seriously looking into dual-booting, but I've never done it before, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about the whole process. Any tips or advice on how to make this work?

I recently set up a dual boot with Fedora 42 alongside Windows 11, and it wasn’t as scary as I thought! I just resized the Windows partition to make space and let the Fedora installer take care of the rest, including partition creation. I didn’t even disable BitLocker or Secure Boot. Now, I’m considering removing Windows altogether because I’ve managed to get Steam and other gaming setups running smoothly on Linux. If you’ve got space on your hard drive, go for it!

Sounds fun! I have a full boot SSD and a 4TB hard drive already; do you think I should grab a second SSD?

Honestly, if gaming is your priority, sticking with Windows might be simpler. But don't worry too much, many games without native Linux support can still run on Linux using Steam Proton or Wine. Just check sites like Are We Anti-Cheat Yet? and ProtonDB to see if your games are supported.
