Thinking About Switching from Intel to AMD: Best CPU Options?

I'm currently using an RX 6900XT with an Intel i9-14900k. Lately, I've been experiencing a lot of issues like crashes, blue screens, and in-game glitches where some assets aren't loading correctly. I'm starting to think these problems might be due to the issues surrounding the 13th and 14th generation Intel CPUs. I'm considering switching to an AMD CPU, but I'm not very familiar with what's currently good on the market. I'd love to hear your suggestions for the best options available!

This could be a variety of issues. If you're keen on resolving it, I suggest contacting Intel about a possible RMA and maybe even lowering your RAM speed, as that’s helped some users. If you do decide to switch to AMD, looking at the 9950x or 9950x3d would be ideal for someone with your specs. Just sharing my experience: I had a 13900k, but switched to 9800x3d, which I didn’t like too much. Eventually, I ended up with a 9950x and I've loved it ever since!

You might want to check with Intel's support. They could replace your CPU for free if you reach out to them. It's worth a shot!

That sounds good, but what should I say? I’m honestly unsure if the CPU or RAM is the real issue.

The 7800x3d and 9800x3d are currently some of the best gaming CPUs. If you do productivity work too and have the budget, consider the 9950x3d. There are cheaper alternatives, but these are solid recommendations!

I just returned a 14700k and it was a quick process with Intel. Honestly, switching to AMD for gaming might not give you the performance boost you're hoping for. I’d suggest downgrading to a 14600k instead of making the jump to AM5. At higher resolutions like 1440p, I haven't noticed much difference between my x3d and 14th gen setups.

If you’re set on switching, I’d recommend getting the 7800x3d for performance similar to what you have, or the 7950x3d for a bit more value. For max performance, the 9950x3d is top-notch!

Just to confirm, those issues I mentioned earlier could definitely be linked to the CPU, right?
