Hey everyone! I'm considering making the switch from Windows 10 to Linux, especially since I've heard support for Windows 10 is coming to an end. I've been dabbling in programming for about two years and now I'm diving into AI-related projects. Unfortunately, I've faced some challenges on Windows where certain libraries don't work well, leading to warnings and limitations. Privacy is also a major concern for me, especially with the AI features in Windows 11 that I've read about. I've been looking into various Linux distros, and Pop!_OS caught my eye due to its good support for NVIDIA graphics, especially since I have an RTX 3060. I'd love any advice, recommendations, or things I should know before making this switch. Thanks for your help!

I switched from Windows 10 to Ubuntu and it was easier than I expected. Create a live USB to test them before making any final decisions. You’ll find different distros have their own vibes, and exploring them is part of the fun!
If you're worried about NVIDIA drivers, Pop!_OS is a solid choice since it supports NVIDIA well out of the box. That said, don't hesitate to dual boot with Windows while you familiarize yourself with Linux—it's a great way to ease into it without fully committing at first.
I did that too! Dual booting helped me transition smoothly.
I recently switched and would recommend starting with a distro like Zorin. It's really beginner-friendly and comes with alternative apps that surprised me because they often outperform the paid ones! Also, familiarize yourself with basic terminal commands—it’s a must. Trust me, you'll want some basics under your belt even if you're not a techie.
Learning a few terminal commands sounds manageable. Thanks for the tip!
Before you install, definitely try out the distro using a live USB! This way, you can check if it works well with your hardware without making any changes to your system. If one doesn’t work, just move on to another until you find one that fits.
That’s a great tip! I’ll make sure to try a live USB before committing.
Just go for it! Honestly, once you start using Linux, you'll find it can be quite liberating compared to Windows. Just keep in mind that some distros are easier for beginners—Linux Mint is a popular choice if you want something user-friendly.
I just moved to Mint too and it's been smooth sailing so far.

That sounds encouraging! I’ll definitely check out some live USBs.
