I've been considering moving away from Windows and want to know if Linux could be a good fit for me. I'm mainly using my PC for gaming, streaming YouTube, and basic web browsing, with some occasional photo editing in Lightroom. My gaming list includes titles like FS25, Satisfactory, and various indie games, all of which I've checked and seem to have Linux support. Before I make the switch, I'd like to hear if anyone has any advice or insights on this. Will I run into issues with these activities on Linux?

I switched to Linux about six months ago and I haven't booted into Windows since. I recommend dual-booting at first, so you can jump back to Windows if a game doesn't run well on Linux. It can be a bit tricky at times, like setting up a printer, but overall, Linux is fantastic!
If you're up for a challenge and willing to learn a bit, I think switching to Linux could be a solid choice. However, if you're not into learning new stuff, sticking with Windows is perfectly fine! Just be prepared for some changes in how you do things.
Honestly, if gaming is a priority, I'd suggest getting another hard drive for Windows. You can keep Linux for everything else and just boot into Windows when you want to game. The more you work with Linux, the less you'll rely on Windows! Just be ready to invest some time to learn it.
I've been using a mix of Fedora and Knoppix, and I've found Knoppix to be great on older machines. You can run some games with Wine, but you'll need to keep a Windows partition for some libraries. It might be a bit of a hassle, but it's doable!
Just a heads up that GTA Online doesn't work on Linux, but if you're mostly into modded versions or other games, you should be okay. Also, having an AI tool like ChatGPT can be super helpful when you're troubleshooting any Linux issues you might run into.
Which Linux flavor do you recommend for a newbie?
