I've been using Windows on my PC since 2019, but I've grown tired of it since I use it for both work and home. I briefly tried Ubuntu but stopped because I couldn't play Fortnite on it. Now that I've decided to stop playing Fortnite, I'm ready to switch to Linux and want some recommendations for distros. I specifically want to avoid anything that resembles an Apple-like interface, such as Ubuntu. I'm looking for something that feels more like Windows and will be a good long-term option.

In addition to Mint and Zorin, you might also consider MX Linux or even Fedora with the KDE spin for a more polished experience. A lot of distributions let you customize the UI, so you're not locked into one look!
If you're looking for a Windows-like experience, I recommend checking out Linux Mint. It has a very familiar interface for Windows users. You could also look into Kubuntu, which uses the KDE desktop environment—it’s more Windows-esque than GNOME. Fedora and Debian are solid alternatives too, but Mint and Kubuntu hit the sweet spot for beginners who want something recognizable and user-friendly!
Just a heads up, not every distribution comes with a particular desktop environment by default, so you can actually choose your interface later on. You can use KDE with various distributions if you prefer that look!
Thanks for the tips! I'll check out Mint and Kubuntu to see which one suits me better!
You might find Zorin Linux to be a better fit too—it's designed for ex-Windows users. Just try out a few different ones live from a USB drive before fully committing, so you can see what you like best!
That's a great idea! I definitely want to see how they all look and feel before making the final choice!
I just switched to Linux Mint 22.1 and it's been a fantastic experience! As someone who's used Windows for decades, Mint feels pretty easy to get used to. Plus, it runs way faster and takes up less CPU than Windows. Definitely give it a try!
Totally agree! Mint has been super easy for me too. I love how lightweight it is compared to Windows!
If you're really against the Apple-like interface, go for Linux Mint or maybe Pop!_OS. Both are easy to navigate and offer a ton of customization if you decide to get into that later. Remember, with Linux, you can also switch desktop environments if you don't like the default one!
Good point! I love how customizable Linux is. I’ll definitely look into those options.
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll be sure to look into all of those options.
