Thinking About Upgrading My PC—What Should I Consider Next?

Hey everyone! I have a budget of $2,000 CAD and I'm looking to upgrade my current PC setup. Here are my current specs: I've got an x570 Aorus Elite motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, 32 GB of G.Skill 3600 RAM, and an RTX 3080 GPU. I'm definitely leaning towards getting an X3D chip, but I'm unsure whether I should go for the one compatible with my current motherboard or if I should plan on upgrading to DDR5 RAM and a new motherboard as well. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You're right about the X3D version of your CPU! If you're considering the 9800X3D, that one requires a new motherboard and RAM since it's AM5. It's a solid choice for high FPS and low latency, plus it's likely to last a while, much like the 5800X3D has. If you're aiming to save some cash, you could also look into the 9600X, which is still a robust CPU but won't keep up as long as the 9800X3D. Just depends on what you're prioritizing!

Yeah, I was thinking the 9800X3D too—just want something reliable for the long run since upgrading often isn't my thing.

Just a heads up, is your $2K budget in USD? If it's CAD, you can actually think about building a whole new system instead of just upgrading! Here's a quick breakdown I found: you could snag the 9800X3D, a new motherboard, and DDR5 RAM, and still have cash left over for a really nice GPU or other components! This build adds up to around $1,886.74 CAD (prices vary), and you'd have a pretty powerful machine! Check out PCPartPicker for options!

Oh, my bad! That budget is actually $2K CAD; thanks for pointing that out!
