Avoid the Fractal Pop Silent; airflow isn’t great. The Pop Air would be a better choice. A good cooling system is crucial, especially if you stick with the Intel CPU.
It’s worse than you think! Sometimes silent cases can run hotter, which is not ideal.
I see some potential issues. Currently, Intel isn’t the strongest choice for gaming unless you pair it with DDR5—otherwise, you’re missing out. For the 5080 build, you might consider the 9800X3D paired with a good B850 board instead and lower-profile RAM since that Patriot stuff is a bit tall for some coolers.
Exactly! Also, I'm curious—what's your actual use case for these builds? If it's gaming, Intel CPUs aren’t the best solution.
What do you mean 'not strong'? The 265K is cheaper and still gives great value for gaming, especially if you’re saving money on components.
What's the purpose of these rigs? Since they're primarily for gaming, I'd recommend against Intel right now. Also, I’ve heard the prices for the 7800 XT are way up. Can you get a better card for that price?
Yeah, they’re for gaming. The Intel CPUs are discounted right now, plus they come with some cool game bundles. That said, I’m wondering if there's a better GPU I can snag for around the same price as the 7800 XT.
Curious about the gaming performance of the 265K. How is that a bad option?
I'd lean towards the AMD build, mainly because you won't run into problems with the 12V 16 port cable like some folks do with Nvidia setups. Just make sure your case has good airflow, especially with high-performance components.
Yeah, most issues people talk about with cables like that are from the 5090 series; the 5080 shouldn’t give you the same trouble.
But remember, the AMD build is for your wife. What’s the use case there?
Really? I thought having five fans would offset that. How bad is it?
