Hey everyone! I'm currently putting together a new PC build and I'm trying to stay within a budget of $1500 to $1700. I already have a 1440p 165Hz monitor and have been gaming on a laptop but I'm looking to upgrade for a better experience. I'm considering the AMD Ryzen 7800X3D since I've heard great things about it and I think it might be useful if I decide to upgrade my GPU later. I'd love to get some feedback on my current build and whether the 7800X3D is worth the extra cost. My goal is to achieve better than 30 fps on Rust with low settings. Thanks in advance for any insights!

I actually put together a build that fits a 5070 GPU for just over $1700. It might outperform the 7800X3D plus a 9060 XT for 1440p gaming since the GPU plays a bigger role at that resolution. Consider checking out my build if you want more powerful graphics for your setup!
Your build with the 7800X3D looks solid! That CPU is a great choice for high-performance gaming, especially with future upgrades in mind. Here’s a quick rundown of your parts:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D – great for gaming.
- **Cooler**: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE – should keep temps down nicely.
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B650 – good for stability and performance.
Overall, you’re looking at a total of about $1637, which fits your budget well! You’ll definitely see better performance compared to what you have now. Happy gaming!
Thanks for the tip! I'm curious why the performance differs between the 1440p setup with the 7800X3D. Do you think paying extra for the 7800X3D would be worth it in that case for purely 1440p gaming?
