Hey everyone, I'm a 21-year-old woman just wrapping up my diploma in programming here on the East side of Canada. I'm specifically looking to start a career in frontend programming, particularly with React. The catch? I have zero formal work experience, aside from a few small coding projects and some 3D modeling work in Unity. I'm really eager to know what steps I should take to successfully land a job in my field after graduation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The best approach is to start applying to as many positions as you can. Even if you feel underqualified, just go for it! And for what it’s worth, I noticed that the education system in Canada might be a bit different from other places, so don’t worry too much about the timeline of your studies.

Thanks for the clarification! I meant diploma, not degree.

Have you checked if your college has a career services department? They often help students with job interviews and can connect you with recruiters who come looking to hire. It might be a great way to get your foot in the door!

Just to be real, being a woman in tech might give you a bit of an advantage in terms of diversity quotas. That said, your main goal should be to prove your skills and earn respect from teammates. Focus on showcasing your projects and don't underestimate the importance of continuous learning to keep improving!
