Hey everyone! I'm working on my first PC build and could use some advice. I'm focusing on a low-budget setup since I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I want good performance for programming. Here's my current build list:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
- **Motherboard**: Asus Prime B550M-A WIFI II mATX AM4
- **RAM**: Patriot Viper Elite II 32 GB (2x16) DDR4 3600 MHz CL20
- **Storage**: Kingston NV3 1TB
- **Case**: MasterBox Q300L mATX
- **PSU**: MSI MAG A550BN 550W
- **GPU**: Maxsun AMD RX580 8GB GDDR5
- **Fans**: Thermalright Fans TL-C12C-S Five Pack, 66.17CFM 120mm
I opted for a more upgrade-friendly motherboard because I plan to enhance my build after graduation. I chose new parts for warranties but found some components to be budget-friendly, especially for my specific needs like programming and casual gaming (games include Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, and Minecraft). I've watched a lot of build videos and read guides, but I'm open to any tips on the build process or general advice! Thanks in advance!

Your motherboard seems like overkill for your needs right now. Maybe go for a more budget-friendly option and save some cash. For RAM, a 3600 MHz will certainly help in programming, but ensure it meets your needs in gaming too. You can always upgrade parts later!
I suggest checking out a better GPU than the RX580 if possible. You don’t want to end up with something that can't handle even basic gaming well. For your needs, though, it could still work, but it might be worth considering newer options for better performance.
I wouldn't stress too much about the case size, especially if you're set on an mATX build. Just make sure it has good airflow! As for the GPU, if you're mostly playing casual games, the RX580 should hold up fine, but keep an eye out for deals on better models like the RX6600!
Totally agree on the motherboard—it might be wise to balance your budget better. But it sounds like you're thinking long-term, which is good! It’s nice to have something that allows you to upgrade later.
