I have an HP laptop that has been passed down a few times, and it's running very slowly. It has Windows 11, but there aren't many applications installed—only about 15. I recently took it for repairs, but it's still performing poorly, sometimes running well and other times being really sluggish. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can consistently speed it up?

Definitely look into your laptop specs—this is key! If it's running on Windows 11 with only 4GB of RAM, it can be quite sluggish. If you can afford it, upgrading to an SSD can speed things up significantly.
Also, keep an eye on what programs are starting with Windows; too many background processes can drag performance down.
It sounds like this could be a case for a fresh start. Considering that your laptop has changed hands several times, it would be worth wiping it completely and doing a clean installation of Windows. This can help remove any clutter that might be causing slowdowns.
Also, make sure you're not using an old hard drive; if it has an HDD instead of an SSD, that may be a significant bottleneck. The CPU and RAM could also be holding you back, especially if they are older models.
Before diving into major changes, it'd really help to know your laptop's specifications. What’s your CPU model, how much RAM do you have, and is it running on an SSD or HDD?
In the meantime, check for any unnecessary programs running in the background and uninstall any you don’t use anymore. Also, consider upgrading your RAM if it’s stuck at 4GB, as upping it to 8GB or even 16GB can make a big difference.
