I'm shifting to Cloud Engineering completely from scratch and have successfully completed the basics of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, and subnetting, along with fundamental Linux skills like the command line interface, file permissions, and managing processes. Right now, I'm diving into Git and GitHub. My aim is to secure a junior cloud role within the next 6 to 9 months. What should I focus on moving forward?

It sounds like you're off to a great start! I recommend choosing one cloud provider, preferably AWS, and really digging into their core services like IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, and RDS. Hands-on projects will help solidify your understanding. After that, get familiar with Terraform and Docker, plus some basics of CI/CD with GitHub Actions to streamline deployments. It's all about practical experience from here!

You should definitely get your hands on some automation tools like Terraform after you've got a grip on the cloud provider. Learning about continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) and containers will also be super beneficial. I suggest focusing on labs rather than just courses—real-world practice is key, especially since landing that first job can be really challenging right now.

I started building my own homelab after learning the basics, and it really helped me get a feel for everything. What roles can I aim for with similar skills? I'm eager to start applying!

Any specific labs you recommend for someone just starting out?
