I just got my hands on a 5090, which is a pretty valuable item, and I'll be carrying it aboard my flight back to my home country. I'm really anxious about the TSA handling it, especially since I hear they might take it out of the bag and handle it with gloves. What can I do to make sure my GPU is safe during travel?

I traveled with a 4090 in my bag and had no issues at all. They just asked what it was, I told them it’s a graphics card, and I was on my way. You’re worrying too much!
As a former TSA agent, I recommend you declare the GPU at the checkpoint. Let them know you're concerned and ask for a manual screening. Just be prepared for the possibility of extra screening time and arrive early for your flight. Alternatively, you could just go ahead and put it through the x-ray in its box. It won’t damage it, but I still think it's safest to ask for a manual check first.

That sounds good! So you think it’s really best to let them know about my worries and opt for the private screening, right?
