I'm having a strange issue with my Acer Aspire V15 Nitro (i7-6700HQ and GTX 960m 4GB). I created a bootable USB with Linux Mint using Rufus, setting it to GPT and UEFI (without CSM). The USB only shows up in the F12 boot menu, not in the BIOS, which makes it impossible to set it as the primary boot device. Is it okay to boot directly from the F12 menu? I just want to make sure I'm not messing anything up.

Most BIOS/UEFI systems let you set the boot order. You can enable the USB as the first device, which will help avoid using the F12 key each time. If your USB is plugged in at startup, it should boot from there first. If it doesn't find a USB device, it'll move on to the next option, probably your HDD or SSD.
Since this is a live USB, you shouldn't need to change any settings in the BIOS just to boot temporarily for the install. However, I see that you've got a bit of a struggle getting back into Linux.
Yeah, I'm having a hard time booting into Linux at all now!
It might help if you give your posts a more specific title next time, just to draw in more eyes that can help. Something like "Boot Issue with Linux Mint USB" would make it clearer.

The USB isn't showing up in the BIOS at all, just in the F12 menu. I tried moving the SSD and some other options to the top, but it still boots into Windows instead of Linux after I select it the first time.
