Hey everyone! I'm having a tough time trying to burn CDs on my 13-year-old ThinkPad T430s. I've been following all the steps correctly and have tried both CD-R and CD-RW discs. The first time I got an error code saying it couldn't complete the burn. After that, it would get to about 3-5%, then claim the burn was done, but the CD comes out blank. I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I might be missing here! Any advice would be appreciated!

Considering the age of your ThinkPad, it might be that the laser for the CD drive isn’t moving as smoothly anymore. If you have access to a USB CD/DVD drive, that could be a good alternative to try out.
You might want to check out programs like Nero Burning ROM for burning, or ImgBurn if you’re just dealing with ISO files. Also, make sure to burn at a lower speed like 4x instead of 52x to reduce failure rates. Sometimes the laser alignment can be an issue too.
We really need to know more about the error messages you're seeing, or even details about the OS and burning software you’re using to assist further. Does your drive read audio CDs just fine? If all else fails, a cheap USB DVD burner could be a quick fix.
Given that the CD drive is 13 years old, it might be on its last legs. That said, did you make sure to 'close' the CD session after burning? Sometimes if you don’t, it can mess things up!
What software are you using to burn the CDs? Also, have you tried using media that's not too old? If it’s possible, try burning at a lower speed like 4x. If you can share more details about any error messages, that would help a lot!
