I'm having a bit of trouble connecting my laptop to my BenQ monitor using a Type-C to HDMI adapter while my PC is also hooked up to the monitor via HDMI. My monitor has two HDMI ports, but when my PC is running, I can't seem to connect my laptop to the monitor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you're trying to connect both your laptop and PC to the same monitor at the same time, which is tricky. You need to switch the input source on your monitor between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 to see the devices separately. They can't display side by side on most monitors unless there's a special feature like PiP (Picture-in-Picture). If you can’t switch sources, make sure your monitor isn't stuck on one input. Try using the buttons on the monitor itself to switch inputs.
Thanks for clarifying! Yeah, you'll need to manually switch the HDMI source on your monitor each time you want to change devices. Some monitors even have an auto-switch feature; check if yours does!
