I have a client whose Google Chrome is showing a message saying 'Administrator has disabled updates' whenever they try to update it manually. I've already downloaded the necessary Google ADMX files and applied the proper policies, but nothing has worked so far. After running a GPUpdate on both the local PC and the Domain controller, the problem still persists. I did manage to manually update Chrome by running the installer, but I need to find a way to enable automatic updates for future use. Can anyone provide some insight or solutions?

You might want to try typing "chrome://policy" into the address bar to check if a cloud policy is being applied. It could be overriding any settings you've put in place!
Just a thought: Chrome and Firefox can apply policies at either the user level or the device level. Check the HKLM and HKCU registry keys—there might be remnants from a previous tool that left them set up.
Make sure to look for an MSI installer flag that might be disabling updates as well. Sometimes, software deployment tools can set this flag without you realizing it.
It sounds like a registry key is set, or there could be a cloud policy assigned to Chrome. Also, keep in mind that some malicious extensions might interfere with Chrome's update functionality.
I've faced this issue before, and it generally involves changing some flags in the registry. An old remote management tool might have set these. If you need more guidance, I can share a script I created to fix it!
