Trouble Getting My Corsair PSUs to Power On – What Should I Do?

I'm in the middle of building a new PC and I've run into a frustrating issue with two Corsair power supply units (PSUs). I initially bought a Corsair RM750x, but when I connected it to my motherboard, there was no power – not even an indicator light. I tried it on another motherboard, but still got the same result. So, I thought it might be faulty and ordered a Corsair RM850e, but that also failed to power on. I've tested both units in multiple outlets and they don't seem to be working at all. The fans spun briefly when I did the paper clip test but then stopped—probably due to the lack of load. Now, I'm not sure what to do next or if I should just try another PSU or keep testing these. Any tips?

You might just have really bad luck with these PSUs. I recently had an RM850x that was dead on arrival. Things were strange when I was trying to connect my new 5070ti—my old PSU just wasn't up to the task. After switching the power supplies, everything worked like a charm. I suggest running the PSU with no connections to see if anything changes. If you haven't already, make sure to max out the fan speed in the settings to check if the fan runs at least.

Sounds like you’re experiencing the same headache I did! Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely try that.

Make sure you short the power switch pins on the motherboard after connecting everything. If you're just flipping the switch on the PSU without doing that, it won’t power on. Also, how have you tried to power it up?

I did try shorting the power switch pins with a screwdriver, but still nothing happened. It’s driving me nuts!
