Trouble Getting New Unifi AP to Connect

Hey everyone! I'm having some issues with my Unifi network setup. I created a wireless network from scratch using Unifi devices, and although I really like their pricing and management options, I'm running into a problem. My network is secured by a Fortigate firewall with three VLANs on an Aruba 1960 POE switch. The configuration details are as follows:

- **Native VLAN:** x.x.19.x
- **VLAN 1:** x.x.21.x
- **VLAN 2 (Guest):** x.x.20.x

I have 8 Unifi AP PROs operating on version 8.0.49.16814, along with a Unifi Cloud Key G2 Pro running OS 4.3.6 and the Network App version 9.4.19. Everything was going fine until a week ago when I tried to add a new U7 PRO AP. Unfortunately, the AP is stuck on the IP address 192.168.1.20.

I've tried factory resetting it several times, checked the switch port configurations, and even connected it through a working AP's port. Using SSH, I attempted to change the IP, and when I plugged a laptop into the same switch port, it received the correct IP address from the x.x.19.x range. According to Unifi's troubleshooting guide, I should look out for network loops, but I'm not convinced that's the issue. I even tried a second new AP with the same results.

I'm running out of ideas here! Any suggestions? I would love to keep my Unifi setup instead of having to switch to another brand. Thanks!

I’ve faced similar issues with U7 Pros on older switch models. You might want to try setting the port to 100FDX or even 100HDX. Also, ensure that you’re using PoE+ injectors if required in your setup. This simple change could help establish a connection!

You could also think about reaching out to HP for support if you have their models elsewhere. Sometimes those vendor support channels can save you a lot of headaches compared to public forums.

It sounds like you've been thorough in your troubleshooting! The IP 192.168.1.20 is actually the fallback address that Unifi devices use when they can’t reach a DHCP server. My recommendation would be to factory reset the new AP, remove it from your controller, and then try to readopt it. You should also confirm if the APs are meant to be on the Native VLAN or if there’s a different configuration required.

Also, make sure to check that your DHCP pool isn't exhausted and consider restarting the DHCP server if you haven't yet.
