I recently got a new gaming PC that's performing really well for gaming and productivity. However, I'm experiencing some frustrating issues when it comes to installing programs. For instance, I attempted to install a Microsoft redistributable, but it got stuck at "finalizing." The same thing happened when trying to install MSI Afterburner. Each time this occurs, I have to open Task Manager and force quit the installer, which is concerning because I worry it might damage something in the process. This issue even extended to Steam when I tried to install Fallout 4; I pressed play, but it just displayed "running install script." I spent hours troubleshooting until the game finally launched. My setup includes Windows 11, a Ryzen 9 3900XT, a 3060Ti, 32GB of 3200mhz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe drive. Just now, I had an installer that was stuck on "finalizing" for over five minutes, and it finally completed, but I wish I didn't have to wait that long or worry about it getting stuck.

It sounds like you're having a tough time with those installations! One common reason could be the Windows Defender scanning the files while installing, which can cause delays. Try to be patient and see if giving the installers more time helps. If the issue continues, consider checking if your BIOS settings or disk configuration are creating delays, but always back up your data first before making changes!
While I understand the waiting can be frustrating, force-quitting the installers can result in incomplete installations, leading to more problems down the line. Have you tried disabling additional background processes or any unnecessary applications while you install? That can sometimes speed things up without the hang-ups!
I tried disabling Windows Defender, but it still happened. I guess I'll have to see if other background processes are affecting it.

I've faced similar issues in the past, and simply letting the installer be and not force-closing it usually solved my problems. Installing can take longer than expected sometimes.
