I've been using my Gmail account to subscribe to a service for over a year, but now when I try to sign back in after logging out, the portal insists my Gmail is a Microsoft account and won't let me log in. I'm not utilizing IDP for authentication or anything like that. My Entra ID says it's an external B2B user account, but in the Identities section, it shows up as a MicrosoftAccount. Has anyone encountered this before and have any suggestions? I tried searching online but couldn't find relevant information.

It sounds like you might be hitting a typical issue with Microsoft’s account management. When you use a non-Microsoft email like Gmail for a Microsoft account setup, the system can get confused, especially if you're also tied to a B2B setup. Sometimes it helps to log in via a tenant-specific link and select the option for 'Work or School Account' if it's available to see if that helps clarify things.
When you're trying to log in, it can indeed be confusing. Just to clarify, Gmail accounts can function as Microsoft Accounts if they've been registered that way. It sounds like the portal is treating your account the same way. Have you noticed any messages when logging in that indicate a mix-up with the authentication process?
Yeah, the portal prompts me for my username, which is the Gmail address. I expect it to authorize through Google, but it seems stuck. So, I get an Authenticator app prompt, approve it, but still can't get in—keeps saying my password is incorrect. I even tried resetting my password, but that didn’t help. Everything was fine until I logged out today!

I see! That makes sense but I used my Gmail to set up my Azure subscription directly, not via any invitation. I'm just puzzled why, if Entra recognizes it as a Microsoft account, it's not letting me log in after resetting my password.
