I'm having a serious issue trying to update my apps, especially WhatsApp, which I really need right now. I've even changed my iCloud password to something super simple, but I still get an 'incorrect password' message every time I try to verify myself in the App Store to download the latest updates. I'm really hoping someone can help me out ASAP!

It sounds like the apps might have been downloaded using someone else's Apple account. You need to use that same account to update them. If that's not an option, your only recourse is to delete the apps and reinstall them fresh.
It's pretty unusual to be prompted for your Apple ID password just for app updates. This usually means the apps were downloaded with a different Apple ID than the one you're currently using. Just to check, has anyone else used your phone before?
