Hey everyone, I'm reaching out because I'm really stressed out over some issues with my new build using a 9800X3D CPU. I'm experiencing unstable dual-channel memory configurations that lead to freezes and memory-related BSODs during stress tests. While tests like TM5, Y-cruncher, and AIDA64 don't show any errors, Memtest86 has pinpointed a failure at a specific address.
Here's what I've found: when testing the RAM sticks individually, they pass fine in Memtest86. However, when both are installed, I get consistent errors, particularly during the 10th test (which checks for bit fades). By the way, I only encounter a failure during the comprehensive test suite, not when I run just test 10.
Here are the components I'm working with:
- CPU: 9800X3D (from AliExpress)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V1.2 (second-hand, updated BIOS)
- RAM: 2x16GB Juhor 6000MHz CL46 (bought as separate sticks at the same time; same manufacturing date/serial)
I also did some boot testing: both sticks post when used in A2 or B2 slots alone or together, but they fail in A1 or B1 slots. I also tried multiple combinations in Memtest86 with mixed results.
I have loosened the CPU cooler, cleaned the RAM contacts and motherboard slots, and even tried adjusting the RAM and VSOC voltage to see if it helps, but no luck. It seems like this could be an issue with the memory controller on the CPU, potential RAM incompatibility, or a motherboard defect. Any thoughts on what to do next? I really appreciate any guidance you can provide!

Have you checked your power supply and GPU? Sometimes those can cause instability as well. If you have a Corsair RM1000x and a 9070XT, those should generally be solid, but it's worth making sure everything is working as intended.
