I recently purchased an Insignia M.2 NVMe to USB-C SSD enclosure, but I can't seem to initialize it in disk management. I'm getting an error that says, "The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error." Can anyone help me figure out what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

Have you tried using MiniTool Partition Wizard? If that doesn't work, you could boot into a live Linux environment and use GParted to manage the drive. If all else fails, there might be an issue with the enclosure or the drive itself.

First off, make sure you've actually installed an NVMe drive in the enclosure. Some people forget that the enclosure itself doesn’t work without a drive. What kind of drive are you using?

Yes, I have an HP Envy with a PCIe drive.

What does GParted do? I'm worried about accidentally wiping my important data.
