I've been having a serious issue with my FPS in both Fortnite and Roblox since around December 23rd. Before that, I was easily hitting 250 FPS while playing Fortnite smoothly with Discord and a clipping service open. Now, I'm stuck at a maximum of 90 FPS, even with lower settings, and during fights, I can dip down to just 30 FPS. On my native resolution, I'm maxing out at 40 FPS. I also noticed that the graphics auto-set to 28% 3D resolution when I try adjusting settings, which is unplayable.
As for Roblox, I usually kept it on graphics level 10, but it runs well for about 30 seconds before dropping to 40 FPS and hitting a render time of 80 ms. This happens even in simple games that shouldn't be that demanding. The lag is especially noticeable in Fortnite when there's action, like building or shooting. I consulted a relative who believes this is normal for the games, but I find that hard to swallow since the problem changed so rapidly. I've done a ton of research and suspect my GPU is working too hard, constantly hitting 92°C and 100% usage, which could be causing the frame drops. I've tried various solutions: limiting power with MSI Afterburner, checking drivers, and even resetting Windows Updates, but nothing seems to work. I'm starting to think that after just over 2 years, my PC parts might just not be cutting it anymore.

It sounds like your GPU is definitely throttling since it's hitting 92°C! You should try reapplying thermal paste first, even if it seems a bit early. It can really help with cooling performance. Just make sure you clean off the old paste properly before applying the new one.

I get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't underestimate thermal paste. I've seen it degrade even in newer builds, especially if the cooling isn't great. It might be worth a shot!
