Hey everyone, I'm having some frustrating startup issues with my custom-built PC setup. Here are my specs for reference:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
- **Motherboard:** MSI X670E Gaming Plus Wifi (latest BIOS update applied)
- **RAM:** G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 2x16GB
- **GPU:** Gigabyte Aorus RX 7900 XTX (latest AMD Adrenalin drivers)
- **Cooler:** Cooler Master 360L Core Liquid Cooler
- **Storage:** Crucial P3 1TB (main Win install), Samsung 870 QVO 2TB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB
- **PSU:** EVGA 1000W P5
- **OS:** Windows 11 24H2
- **Monitor:** Samsung Neo G8
The problem doesn't happen all the time, but it's annoying enough to warrant some help. Sometimes, when I try to wake my PC from sleep, it powers on (RGB lights up), but the display stays black and flashes intermittently, and I can't get it to wake up. The only solution is a hard power down and restart.
When I just power on the PC, it goes through BIOS fine, reaches the Windows login screen, and then goes black again. I've tried multiple fixes including reseating my GPU, reinstalling drivers, and even a fresh Windows install, but nothing seems to work.
I'm not sure if this is a software issue or if something hardware-related is faulty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds like a classic case of a hardware hiccup. It might help to check if your monitor is set to the right input. Can you see the login screen just for a moment before it goes black? Also, trying a different HDMI or DisplayPort could rule out a cable issue. Sometimes the GPU's output just doesn't sync properly with certain monitors, especially with dual displays. Good luck!
These startup issues can be quite annoying! Have you tried booting in Safe Mode to see if the problem persists? That might give you a clue if it’s a driver issue. Also, if you had a different monitor temporarily and it worked fine, maybe there's something wonky with the Neo G8's compatibility?
I've booted in Safe Mode and things behaved better, so it could possibly be a driver issue. I might have to mess with that more. Thanks for the tip!
I've had a similar issue before! Switching ports really helped me. And if you can, try using a different monitor just to see if there's any difference.
