Trouble with Sleep States and WiFi on Linux

I'm looking to switch to Linux but I'm dealing with some frustrating issues related to sleep states in the kernel. My system has two modes: "s2idle" and "deep." When I use "s2idle," my computer has trouble connecting to WiFi after waking up—it shows the option but can't find any networks. The only solution seems to be rebooting the system, which isn't ideal.

On the other hand, when I switch to "deep" sleep, the WiFi works, but I encounter a different problem: the battery status doesn't update correctly after waking up. For instance, if I put my laptop to sleep while it's charging, it still shows it as charging even if it's unplugged afterward. I've encountered this issue across multiple Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, Zorin OS, and Pop_OS! (the Epoch release). I'm really hoping to find some help with this, as my previous posts went unanswered.

You might be dealing with buggy ACPI issues since that often causes problems with sleep states. It could help to search for solutions specific to your laptop model. Sometimes, users have found success reporting similar issues or workarounds.

This could be linked to some changes made by Microsoft that affect dual-boot systems. Just to be safe, ensure that Windows fast startup is turned off because it can interfere with how your hardware wakes up. It’s worth checking out that link I found for other users with similar issues as well.

It sounds like a tricky situation! First off, it would help to know more about your hardware, especially the network card you're using. Also, just to clarify, Fedora is actually not based on Ubuntu, so you might want to keep that in mind. If you provide your hardware details, others might be able to offer more specific advice.
