I installed a new access point (AP) at our secondary site last week, and now two laptops are experiencing significant internet performance issues when they connect to a particular SSID. Before, everything was fine. When one of the affected laptops connects to this SSID and I launch Microsoft Edge, the ping rapidly spikes to over 1000ms, making apps on our main site unusable. I've ruled out interference by taking down the old AP and checking connections. I've even tested the laptop on a mobile hotspot with no issues. It only seems to be a problem when connected to this SSID. Despite my various attempts at fixes, including reinstalling drivers, resetting the network, and modifying adapter settings, the problem persists. Could this still be an issue related to the new AP or the network configuration?

Have you looked at the cabling for the AP? Also, what model are you using? Sometimes mismatches in expected network configurations can lead to weird issues like this.
It sounds like there might be controls in place from the network management side that could limit bandwidth for certain devices, potentially due to the new AP. It might be worth reaching out to the network administrators to see if anything has changed.
Has your VLAN assignment been checked? It’s possible that the laptop isn’t getting the right IP or is on a different VLAN that has restrictions. Just something to look into as a potential cause.
Consider monitoring with Wireshark when you connect to the AP. It’ll let you see live network traffic on your machine. This way, you can pinpoint exactly what happens when you launch Edge and how it interacts with the network.
It sounds like there could be something like guest mode or traffic shaping enabled on that SSID from the AP controller. Definitely check that to see how it might be affecting your connection, especially since this issue started after the new AP installation.
