I'm having a frustrating problem with my Ideapad 5 (model 14ALC05) and its Realtek 8822ce network interface card (NIC). I can see and connect to Wi-Fi networks, but there's no internet access. This issue is not new; I've fixed it with a network reset before, but that hasn't worked this time. Oddly, I can ping 1.1.1.1 using my phone's hotspot, but I still can't access regular websites. It doesn't seem to be a DNS issue. I don't often use this laptop, but I'd like to get it sorted out. If it comes down to it, could I replace the NIC with a new PCI one? If so, which one would be compatible?

It’s worth checking if the network drivers are fully updated too! Sometimes they can have bugs that cause connectivity issues. Also, try resetting your network settings entirely. If you've done all these and still face the same issues, replacing the NIC could definitely be a solution. Just make sure to look for PCIe cards that are compatible with your device.
Have you thought about reinstalling the network drivers? You can use a flash drive to get them back on there. Also, run an 'ipconfig /all' command to see your local IP address. If you notice it's a 169.X.X.X address, that's indicating a loopback issue which might be the source of your problem. To dig a little deeper, head to the Control Panel, then navigate to Network and Internet, followed by Network and Sharing and finally Adapter Settings to check if any DNS settings are configured for IPv4 and IPv6.
