I recently built a new PC for a friend, but I'm having trouble getting any video signal from the graphics card. I've tried both the DisplayPort and HDMI outputs without success. However, when I connect the HDMI to the motherboard, I get a video signal just fine. I checked the MSI BIOS but couldn't find anything related to the GPU. After installing Windows 11, I still had no luck. I made sure the GPU was installed correctly, but when I swapped it out for another new GPU from a different build, it still didn't work. Before I consider returning the motherboard to Microcenter, is there something I might be overlooking?

What model GPU are you using? And just to be sure, double-check that all the power cables needed by the GPU are properly connected!
It might be worth doing a CMOS reset. After that, check the BIOS for any settings regarding the primary display output. Also, when Windows is running, does the discrete GPU show up in the Device Manager?
Have you tried using a different PCIe slot on the motherboard? That could help determine if the issue is with the current slot you're using.
I hadn’t thought of that. I assumed swapping to a new GPU would rule out the GPU as the problem, but I’ll definitely give a different PCIe slot a shot.
Good news! I just reset the CMOS and it's working now. Thanks for the help! I should have tried that from the start. I didn't think a new motherboard would need it, especially since I didn't go for an open box.
