Troubleshooting Persistent Freezing Issues on My New iPhone

I'm really frustrated with my iPhone 16 Pro, which I got in December 2024. Since mid-December 2025, it's been freezing and slowing down unexpectedly. It took over an hour to turn back on after a restart. I first took it to Verizon, but they couldn't help and directed me to Apple. The Apple technician suggested I do a factory reset, which meant setting the phone up as new since I didn't have a backup.

Unfortunately, just a week later, the freezing issue returned. Apple replaced all the internal hardware and restored data from my backup. But again, two weeks later, the problem recurred. This time, Apple gave me a brand new phone and restored it again from my backup.

Now, just a few days later, the same issue has arisen once more! After wiping the device today and setting it up again as new, I'm really anxious about downloading my apps again, fearing this problem will happen continuously. I suspect there might be corrupted data in one of my apps that's causing the app to crash when I try to back it up. This whole situation has caused me a lot of stress and sleepless nights. I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice you might have!

It sounds like there might be some corrupted data in your iCloud that's causing the issues. Have you thought about starting fresh with no data from iCloud and seeing how the phone behaves? That way, you can rule out whether it's a specific app causing the problems when you restore from the backup.

I did ask that, but they told me my iCloud data couldn’t be corrupted.

To get a better understanding, could you clarify a few things? Where are you located, and are you visiting a proper Apple Store with a Genius Bar or an Authorized Service Provider? They might replace hardware if they think it’s an internal issue; did they run any diagnostics before they did that?

I'm going to an actual Apple Store in NJ. They replaced the internals because they thought the only option left was to reset to factory settings, which we had already done. They couldn't run diagnostics before, but somehow they managed today and said everything passed.

If restoring with no backup works fine, it likely has to do with something specific in your data. You might have some corrupted file or app that triggers the issues when you back it up. Maybe try to figure out which app it is by downloading them one by one after the reset to see if the problem arises again.

So you mean, there could be something in my data that’s corrupt? How would I find out which specific part is affected?
