I recently upgraded my AM4 setup from a Ryzen 5 5600X to a Ryzen 9 5900X. I did a complete wipe and reinstalled Windows 11. While my CPU benchmarks show a significant improvement, I've noticed that my RTX 5070 is performing about 20% worse on Passmark compared to how it did with the 5600X. This doesn't seem right to me. Any ideas on what I might be missing? I'm using an Asus B450 Gaming Pro motherboard, 32 GB of RAM, and a 4TB M.2 SSD.

You might want to try running a game without any vsync or framerate cap. If your GPU usage is around 98%, then your performance should be fine. Sometimes synthetic benchmarks can be misleading.
Honestly, it's puzzling that your GPU score would drop in Passmark after the CPU upgrade. Have you actually tested gaming performance? Passmark scores aren't everything for gaming. Also, just to clarify, a 5900X is usually for productivity gains rather than a huge boost in gaming. You might get better results with a 5700X3D or 5800X3D for gaming if that was your focus.
I'm not really aiming to maximize my gaming performance. I do some gaming, but I primarily work in design and photography, which definitely benefits from the extra cores. Lightroom is noticeably faster with the new CPU, so that's a win for me. I found a good deal on the 5900X at Microcenter, so I went with it instead of jumping to AM5 right now.
