Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my system with a new AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT, and while my PC is running smoothly, I'm now facing a frustrating issue — I can't connect to the internet!
I'm using a USB network adapter to connect, and it seems to recognize my networks just fine, but I can't actually access the internet. I've tried unplugging both my router and my PC, and all other devices are online without any problems.
I've also reset my BIOS to default settings and completely reinstalled the network adapters through the device manager, but nothing has worked so far. I'm really in need of any insights or tips you might have. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sometimes routers only accept connections from known MAC addresses, so try checking your router settings and add your PC's MAC address if needed.
If your device connects to the network but not the internet, it’s usually related to network settings or a firewall. You might want to look into that.
So, just to clarify, your USB network adapter shows it’s connected to the network but you aren’t getting internet access, right? That doesn’t sound like a CPU issue. What's the connection type — Wi-Fi or Ethernet? If it's Ethernet, check the cable — it might have gotten damaged during the upgrade.
I wouldn't recommend resetting your BIOS like that; instead, focus on updating it to the latest version. That could help fix any compatibility issues with your new CPU.
When your PC connects to your local network but not to the internet, the issue is probably with the router. Check your DNS and gateway settings. It might not be anything you did! Also, run "ipconfig /all" in the terminal and look for your IP address. If it starts with 169, you’ve got a DHCP issue. You can try releasing and renewing your IP address with "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew".
