I recently upgraded my CPU from a 7950x3d to a 9800x3d, and according to my x670e-a motherboard, I shouldn't need to update the BIOS since it supports that series out of the box. However, when I powered it up, I got no display on my monitor, and my keyboard doesn't seem to power on either. I can't access safe mode since there's no power to those devices. I thought about updating the BIOS, so I swapped back to my old CPU to do that, but now I'm facing the same issue. There's also a solid orange light on the top right of my motherboard near the DRAM slot, and I'm not sure if that was there before. Any advice would be really helpful!

It sounds like you might need to update your BIOS since the version that shipped with your motherboard was likely meant for the older CPU. For the new 9000 series CPUs like the 9800x3d, a BIOS update is usually required. Before that, try clearing the CMOS. Sometimes after a CPU change, the motherboard needs to reset and train the memory. Also, when you clear the CMOS, it should normally turn off the RGB lights, so if they're still on, it might indicate that it didn’t work as expected. Hang in there!
If you still get an orange light after trying to clear the CMOS, it might be worth checking your RAM sticks. Make sure they are seated correctly. Also, try booting with just one stick of RAM to see if it can make it past the initial startup. Sometimes, new hardware needs a bit of extra love to get going!
Thanks! I’ll definitely check the RAM tonight and see if that fixes the issue.
I had a similar issue, and clearing the CMOS helped me a lot. Just make sure to check your manual for the exact process, sometimes it’s more than just pressing a button.
