Upgraded to RTX 5070 Ti, but Dota 2 is Still Lagging – What Should I Do?

I recently upgraded my gaming rig with an ASUS RTX 5070 Ti, paired with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, and I'm experiencing major lag in Dota 2 despite my specs being pretty decent. My setup includes 32GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM, an MSI MPG X570 motherboard, and a Samsung NVMe SSD, among other components. After the upgrade from an RTX 2080 Super, I reset the CMOS and attempted several tweaks that I found through research and tutorials, but even after replacing my old RAM that wasn't working, the stuttering continues. I've checked that my GPU usage is below 60°C, and I'm worried that my older parts might be bottlenecking performance. I want to avoid going back to my friend who installed the GPU since he charges a hefty fee for his services. Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting steps or upgrades?

It sounds like the Ryzen 3900X might be holding you back a bit since it's older tech. You should consider looking into getting a more modern CPU to match your GPU, which could help eliminate those lag issues. Also, make sure your power settings are optimized for performance, not power-saving modes.

Thanks! I didn't think about optimizing the power settings, will definitely give that a try.

Yeah, $150 for just installing a GPU seems a bit ludicrous, honestly. Consider asking your local tech group or even checking online forums; you might find someone who can help you without that expensive charge!

Totally agree! I didn’t expect it to be that steep just for a simple swap.

I had a similar situation upgrading from a 3050 to the 5070 Ti, and I found that switching my NVIDIA settings to high performance helped a lot. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 5500, so you might have similar results if you do some tweaks in there!

I’ve tried adjusting settings, but I wonder if I really need to think about upgrading my CPU after all.
