Upgrading CPU for Windows 11: Can I Keep My Other Parts?

Hey folks! I've had my custom PC for about 7 years, and it's been great for my work tasks. However, I need to upgrade to Windows 11 and noticed my Intel Core i7-7700 CPU isn't supported, which means I'll also need a new motherboard. My question is, is it possible to keep most of my other components like RAM, GPU, and PSU if I swap out the motherboard and CPU? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, that motherboard and power supply are likely proprietary, making it tough to reuse most of your system. You might end up needing to replace more components than you'd hoped.

Once you switch the motherboard and CPU, retaining your RAM is probably the least of your worries! Just keep in mind that the power supply might not work well with standard components. If you can, consider selling this build and going for a used option that fits your needs better.

You'll need to check if your HP's motherboard, case, and power supply follow standard ATX specifications. If they don't, it might limit your options for reusing other parts.
