I'm currently using a 7800X3D and planning to upgrade to a 9950X3D soon. I'm already set on doing a full Windows reinstall, but I'd like to know if there's anything else I should take care of during the upgrade. Do I need to update the BIOS? Should I clear the CMOS? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely make sure to update your BIOS to the latest version before swapping the CPUs. A Windows reinstall isn't strictly necessary, but it can help with performance. No need to clear the CMOS either, just focus on that BIOS update and you should be good to go!
You're going to love that upgrade! Reinstalling Windows can be a good idea to start fresh, plus it just helps avoid any potential issues. Just double-check that your motherboard supports the 9950X3D and that it's up to spec for that beast!
Thanks! What should I specifically be looking for on the motherboard to ensure it can handle the new processor?
I’ve heard that while AMD says you don’t need to reinstall Windows, it can actually make a difference in performance. But I’m planning to reinstall anyway for some other reasons.
