Upgrading from AM4 to AM5: Is It Worth the Performance Boost?

I'm currently running a gaming setup that's pretty demanding at 1080p with titles like Ark: Survival Ascended, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption 2. My current build is based on a B450 board with a Ryzen 5 5600 and a Radeon 7800 XT with 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I've recently upgraded my GPU, but I'm considering getting a new case for better airflow. I'm curious about the performance differences I'd experience by moving to an AM5 platform. My budget is around $500, which would likely mean picking up a B850 Tomahawk, Ryzen 9 9600X, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. Does anyone have data or experiences to share regarding the performance uplift I can expect? Thanks!

When it comes to case cooling, it’s mainly a problem if your CPU’s temperature hits a critical point and starts throttling. Have you checked your CPU cooler? Opening the case up and using a table fan can also help in a pinch! If you have the stock coolers on your CPU and GPU, upgrading your CPU cooler for about $80 might give you a nice boost too. Just something to consider!

I’m using a Peerless Assassin mini cooler and my temperatures are normal, but since I have a smaller case, heat builds up quickly. I’ve been advised to get a bigger case with better airflow. If I’m not experiencing throttling, are my temps okay? I have to keep the case closed to protect it from my cats!
