I'm planning to upgrade my setup from a Ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 2070 Super to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and an RTX 5070. I've heard that I should update my BIOS, and I have a new 750W power supply on the way. Are there other things I should consider for this upgrade? Also, how significant of a performance boost can I expect with these new components?

Expect a huge performance jump! The difference between the 5800X3D and even the 7800X3D is only about 10-20%, so you're in for a treat. Plus, the 5070's DLSS will enhance your gaming even further.

Just a heads-up: it’s smart to have a fresh Windows boot drive ready. I swapped my Ryzen 5 3600 and 2070 Super for a 5800XT and 5070 Ti, but I messed up my BIOS update and ended up with no Windows back on my old CPU. Better safe than sorry!

Oof! Thanks for the heads up.

I recently made a similar upgrade from a 5600G with a 3060 Ti to a 5700X3D and 5070. The performance surge at 1440p is impressive! Just ensure your BIOS is updated, and when you first boot into Windows, use the NVIDIA app for a clean install of the drivers. You're going to enjoy this upgrade!

When you're swapping out the CPU cooler, be careful because the old CPU might stick to it. It can help to run a game for a bit to loosen the thermal paste before disassembling everything. Just a little tip!

Good idea! I didn't think of that.

Going from a 5700X3D and 2070 Super to a 5070 is a massive upgrade! At 1440p, you’ll be hitting around 144FPS on max settings easily. You're definitely going to be happy with this setup!

Make sure to take pictures of your connections if this is your first upgrade. That way, you can reference them later. Also, the latch on the PCIe slot can be tricky; a wooden chopstick can help you release it more easily.
