Upgrading My 2011 PC for Gaming and Streaming

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my home-built PC, which hasn't changed since 2011. Right now, I'm running Windows 10 Home 64-bit with an Intel Core i5 2500K processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and a pretty old graphics setup. I recently got a GTX 2080, which has made me think about how to boost my system. My primary needs are streaming football games and playing older titles like TF2—I'm not aiming for cutting-edge performance or specs, just something that feels balanced. Any recommendations on what I should upgrade to make this a more capable gaming machine? Also, I've got a ROG Crosshair VIII motherboard I found; should I consider using that? Thanks for any suggestions!

It sounds like you're poised for some decent upgrades! Since you're mostly playing older games and streaming, you might want to focus on a setup that won’t break the bank but will provide decent performance. A good starting point could be the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with a compatible AM4 motherboard and some DDR4 RAM. This combination will give you better performance without going overboard. Honestly, if you're not planning to do a complete overhaul, just adding another 8GB of DDR3 RAM could help Windows run smoother. But getting new parts is definitely the way to go if you want to enjoy your RTX 2080 fully! Your CPU is quite outdated, so you might want to look at Ryzen options that fit your needs better.

I appreciate the insight! I'll definitely look into the Ryzen options; it’s been a while since I’ve built a PC!
