Upgrading My GPU: What Should I Choose?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my GPU without changing anything else in my setup. I built my PC back in 2020 using a configuration helper and have a pretty solid setup: an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC motherboard, MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio, an i9 9900KF processor, and 32GB of Gskill DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. My power supply is a BeQuiet! Straight Power 11 Platinum 750W. I'm gaming on a Xiaomi Ultrawide monitor at 3440x1440 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

During this winter's sales, I'm considering a GPU upgrade. Initially, I thought about the RTX 4070 Ventus, but it's way too pricey! I asked ChatGPT for alternatives, and it suggested the RX 7700 XT or RX 9070. I'm curious if there would be any bottleneck with my current i9 processor, and if the recommendations are still accurate. I'm open to spending around $600 or more if necessary. Thanks for your help!

If the RTX 4070 seems too pricey for you, consider checking out Intel's Arc B-series. They can be a good budget option, plus it might be a fun learning experience!

If you’re gaming on titles like League of Legends and looking to play more demanding games in the future, definitely go with the 5070 or 9070 options. Just ensure you opt for 16GB if you can, as it helps in the long run. You might experience some bottleneck, but it's manageable. Also, consider upgrading your benchmarks with your current GPU first to compare performance!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll do the benchmark, sounds smart.

To avoid bottlenecking your CPU, you might want to consider the RX 9060 XT with 16GB. It should work nicely!

You might also want to look at the 3080 or 4080, but if those seem like overkill, the 5070 is a great choice too. Just be aware that lower options like the 5060 Ti might not provide the best long-term value for gaming.

Yeah, if you’re not at least getting an RTX 3080 or AMD 7800 XT, you might want to reconsider your upgrade.

It’s true that the RTX 40 series is a bit outdated now and prices are crazy high. I’d recommend looking at the RTX 5070 or Radeon RX 9070. They should pair well with your CPU, causing just a minor bottleneck. It’s a solid upgrade that should run smoothly!

I was considering the RTX 5000 series too, but which specific model do you suggest? Any favorites?

Got it, thanks! I’ll check those out!
