Hey everyone! My son has been wanting to upgrade his PC so we can play some games together, but I'm a bit lost on where to start! His birthday is coming up on September 27th, so I want to get this sorted out before then. I have the specs of his current setup, but any help on how to proceed would be really appreciated!

From your description, it sounds like he has a Dell Optiplex 7050 SFF Desktop. Depending on your budget and the games he enjoys, you might have better luck considering a new build altogether. Feel free to share a budget, and I can help you whip up a parts list or point you towards a decent prebuilt system!

For a $1,000 budget, you could get a solid build that should handle most modern games with ease. If you're looking to save a bit, consider going for older components that still offer great performance. Let me know if you want some specific part suggestions!

Honestly, with a gaming setup, you might be better off looking for a prebuilt option rather than upgrading the current one. It's often more cost-effective and hassle-free!

The main upgrade I’d recommend is getting him an RTX 3050 6GB GPU. Just keep in mind that Dell office PCs, like the one he probably has, often aren’t designed for upgrades, so you might hit some limitations there.
