I'm currently working with Claude Desktop on my Mac using the official MCP filesystem, and my experience has been pretty smooth. However, I'd prefer to integrate an extension into VSCode or Zed directly to avoid switching between the editor and Claude Desktop. I'm wondering if I can do this with a Max subscription, or if the Roo Code extension will let me run things efficiently without additional costs. I've heard using an API might not be the best option financially, so any insights would be appreciated!

Using an API key would stack up your costs really quickly, trust me. With a Max subscription for $100 a month, I can keep using Claude Desktop virtually unlimited, which is actually pretty cost-effective.
If you just add your API key to Roo Code, it seems like you could use it as much as you want. So, technically, you wouldn't really need a Max subscription or have any limitations that come with it.
