Weird Batch File Opening at Startup – Should I Worry?

I'm having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Book 5 running Windows 11. Every time I boot it up, I see the Command Prompt flash for a split second. I checked the startup apps and found a random batch file named "rename unattended" that I think is causing the problem. When I try to open this file, the Command Prompt pops up with a message that includes "C:Windowssystem32cmd.exe." Should I be concerned about this batch file? Is it safe to delete, and what steps should I take?

If you're seeing a batch file pop up on startup, it's a good idea to investigate it further. You can right-click on it and select 'Edit' to see what's inside. This will open it in Notepad, and if it looks suspicious or unfamiliar, it might be worth removing. Just be careful, as deleting the wrong files can harm your system. Make sure you have backups just in case!

Got it. When I checked, it contained lines that seemed to be moving some files around and removing the batch file after running. Sounds sketchy to me. I'm definitely considering deleting it!

Hey, don’t panic just yet. The batch file might be linked to some processes from Windows, but if it looks odd to you, better safe than sorry! Backup your data first, then consider getting rid of it if you don't recognize it.

Definitely check that file out! If it's scripting commands that include moving system files or cleaning up after itself, it could be potentially harmful. If you didn't create it or don’t remember using it, I’d recommend deleting it or disabling it from startup. It's better to be safe!
