I recently captured an image of a Dell Optiplex 7020 that I customized for our company using MDT. I updated the BIOS and drivers with Dell Command Update, installed software, and then captured the image to deploy it later. However, after deploying this image back to a physical machine, the system rebooted and started a BIOS update process. I'm curious if Dell keeps BIOS updates on a hidden partition or if the imaging process could be triggering Windows Update to apply a BIOS update. I've checked various partitions and folders for any BIOS update files but found nothing. Any insights or explanations would be really helpful!

It sounds like your imaging process might be pulling a BIOS update through Windows Update. If the machine connects to a network, it could automatically apply any available firmware updates during reboot. When you run a BIOS update via Windows, it reboots the system and applies the update before fully loading the OS. Just make sure not to turn off the machine during that process; it could cause complications.
I think the BIOS update trigger could be due to Windows Update if your MDT settings are pointed that way. Without a WSUS server, MDT might pull in any available updates, including drivers and BIOS firmware from Dell. If you're creating a golden image, it's probably better to do it in a VM to avoid vendor-specific issues. I usually use Microsoft's provided images as a base and install everything at deployment time, which saves a lot of hassle.
Are you including Windows Update steps in your Task Sequence? If not, it might just be the default behavior after deploying the image that triggers an attempt to search for updates.
