With Microsoft recently removing the Remote Desktop app (version 10.2.4010), I'm on the lookout for alternatives. I just got a new laptop and I'm planning to keep my old one. One of the things I loved about the app was its ability to automatically resize the screen to fit each window. What are other people using these days?

I discovered Mobaxterm on a company laptop that hadn't been re-imaged. The free edition works like a charm, especially now that the 'Windows App' dropped support for individual PC connections. I even ended up buying a license because it’s been so useful!
For Windows, I've been using RDCMan from Sysinternals, and for Linux, I prefer Remmina. RDCMan is great for maintaining saved configurations, especially when using different devices!
Yeah, it's pretty handy to have your config saved to OneDrive!
Did they actually bring back RDCMan? That's awesome!
They actually just renamed the Remote Desktop app to 'Windows App.' At least it wasn't called 'Copilot Session,' right?
Haha, right? It's like Microsoft is on a mission to make everyone use Copilot!
The new 'Windows App' doesn’t support local RDP connections, only AVD sessions, which is a bummer.
I just type **mstsc.** old-school style. Or sometimes click start and type ‘remote’ to pull it up!
Fellow old timer here! I do the same.
Classic move! It’s nice to see some of us still holding onto those old methods.
I really like Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager. It’s great for managing all my Windows and Linux environments from one place, and the free version has a lot of features!
Totally agree! The free tier is packed with features; I love using Devolutions.
Mobaxterm is fantastic; it just makes managing connections a breeze!
