What AM4 CPU Should I Choose for My RX 7600?

I've been upgrading my main PC recently to prolong its life until I can build a new one. Currently, I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600G paired with an RX 7600, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. My power supply is 850W. However, I've been facing performance issues like stuttering and FPS drops, which seem to be related to a bottleneck. I'm looking for recommendations on AM4 CPUs that would work better for stable performance. I heard about the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but I'm wondering if that's overkill for my setup. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, I'd ride it out for a couple more years with your 5600G. I have a 5600X, and it works well with my RX 6750XT for 1440p gaming. The AM4 X3D chips are getting pretty rare and expensive. Upgrading to AM5 soon might be the better path forward for guaranteed performance improvements in the future.

If you're dead set on upgrading, know that the 5600G does sacrifice some cache space for integrated graphics, which might contribute to the stuttering. The 5800X might be your best bet for an AM4 upgrade, but just be mindful of rising prices. Are you running dual-channel RAM? That can significantly impact performance!

I think your 5600G should be fine for the RX 7600. You might not even be hitting a CPU bottleneck. Check your GPU usage while gaming—if it's maxing out or fluctuating, that could be the issue. Also, what games are you trying to play?

Yeah, looking at GPU usage can tell you a lot. Sometimes the problem isn't the CPU at all!

If you're upgrading to an AM4 for gaming, I highly recommend getting an X3D CPU. They're great for performance! Just a heads up, though—make sure you're not paying crazy prices, as some can go over $300 right now. If prices are too high, consider switching to AM5 instead for a better long-term investment.

Yeah, AM4 CPUs are becoming pretty pricey these days. The best bang for your buck might be the 5800X, which is around $160. Just keep in mind that AM4 isn't going to get any future updates, so you might want to save a bit and make the jump to AM5 with DDR5 RAM and a new motherboard for more future-proofing.
