Hey everyone, I'm looking for a solid antivirus or malware detection solution for my Linux machine. It's always on at home, and I access it remotely via SSH to download files and perform various tasks. I'd really like to set up some kind of file scanning or monitoring for malware on this system since I'm a bit new to Linux and this network setup. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Before you get too deep into any options, remember that as long as you're careful with what you download, Linux is pretty secure. Most of the threats are aimed at Windows anyway. That said, using ClamAV for your Linux machine is a solid choice. If you're really concerned, consider running a security assessment on your Windows machine after transferring files from Linux, maybe set up MS Defender for that. It has a great reputation for catching malware.

You might want to check out ClamAV; it's a free option that specializes in scanning for malware. Just keep in mind that its effectiveness isn't the best. You could also consider a cloud-based tool like Any.Run, or if you're looking for something more robust, business-grade solutions like Bitdefender or Sophos could be worth a look.

Yeah, many users skip AV on Linux since most distros come with AppArmor or SELinux already set for process isolation.
